Dr Abdul Khaliq, Prof of ME, addressed the students of the college on 2.11.11. He interacted with the faculty of ME. He examined the facilities in the workshops of ME. He will keep on visiting the college now and then to guide the students and to advise the faculty. 

An IAS Officer addressed the students on 3.11.11. He stressed the need for going for Voter Card so that every eligible student may use the voting right to keep Indian democracy on the right track. 

Twenty five students of the college went to Chandigarh on 4.11.11 to attend a lecture delivered by  Mr Vijay Thadani, CEO, NIIT. Er Varun Sharma and Er Manju Bala accompanied the students.



A team from the  Army is visiting  the  IITT COE  Pojewal campus on 5 Oct 2011 to conduct  preliminary  interview of the students  who have applied for commissioning  into the  army through  the University  Entry Scheme  (UES) The students of the 3rd year  had earlier submitted applications for the (UES) while those  from the finial  year had submitted  applied  for the Tech Graduates Course ( TGC)  and the Short Service Commission (SSC). The candidates who clear the first phase ,will be called for the final selection at the Services Selection Board (SSB) interviews..

To make students technically sound, a two -day robotics workshop and competition was organized by the IIT, Kharagpur in collaboration with Robosapiens India at IITT College of Engineering, Kala Amb, Sirmour,  Himachal Pradesh ,on 13th & 14th October. 2011.

The college was chosen as the Zonal centre in north India for the robotics workshop and competition.  In this two day activity, students were made aware about the basic robotic electronics, working of micro controllers, interfacing of various components with the micro-controller, programming and finally a hardware of the robot was made by the students under the guidance of experts from the IIT, Kaharagpur, and Robosapiens India:  Mr S K Yadav and Mr D. Kumar.

The workshop was followed by the competition and winners from this  zone  would get a chance to participate at the national-level robotics  competition which will be held at IIT, Kharagpur. The team that will be representing this zone comprises of  Shibu Kumar Jha, Uttakarsh Kumar, Akash Kumar, Adarsh Kumar  and Nikhilesh Trikha.

Apart from this, the runner-up of the competition Md Nehaluddin, Nakul Bansal, Pawan Kumar Tiwari, Vineet Kaur and Ankita  will attend  summer internship free of cost at Robsapiens India.
Dr S.B. Kalidhar, Principal, IITT College of Engineering, Kala Amb, in his inaugural address, advised the students to take the maximum advantage of this workshop as it would not only help them enhance their technical skills but also teach them how to work in a team and develop leadership skills which was of the utmost importance in the corporate sector.

The workshop was managed by Er Varun Sharma , ECE;  Mr. Randeep Singh, Computer Science & Engg,;  Er. Dittika, Electrical Branch;  under the chairmanship of  Col. Jasmer Singh, along with two student coordinators Mr. Arpit Goel & Naveen Thakur

Around 200 students drawn from different colleges attended the workshop. The workshop was well attended and well organized.

Lecture on Induction into Defence Forces
In order to motivate our students to join the Army as commissioned officers into the technical stream, a lecture was conducted at IITT COE, Pojewal. Major Nitin Joshi from the Army visited the College on 10th Oct 2011. He gave an overview of the career prospectus in the defense services.

The Punjab Technical University has decided to extend the last date of admission during session 2011-12 to 15th October, 2011 for all Courses. The eligibility check of the students admitted after 30th Sept 2011 shall be checked after 15th October 2011
The IITT COE, Kala Amb conducted MST 1 exams from 27.9.11 onwards.
The cricket matches in the IITT COE, Kala Amb are over. Evergreen team is at the top. Boys Hostel Team got the II position.
In order to have  a first hand information  about the ongoing R&D project undertaken by our student, Mr. Ajit  Kumar (CHE - 5th Sem), Wg Cdr Kuldip Singh (Training & Placement Officer) accompanied by the  Principal Dr. K.K Goel , HOD CHE (Ms Kamaljit  Kaur) and HOD Applied Sciences (Ms Renu Gill) visited the PACL Plant at Nangal on 28 Sep,2011. The team was taken round the Plant and was briefed about its various  activities by the student as well as the Plant authorities. The Plant Engineers Shri  Shekar and  Sh.Atul Prashar explained at length the two proposed innovations on which the students is presently working .The first one is how the HCL, which gets  diluted  during Plants operations, is presently allowed to go waste. The student has made out a detailed project report for recycling the wastage to make it useful for the Plant again The project guide Mr. Sehagal explained how the required infrastructure is feasible. The project report has been forwarded to PACL head office for their necessary action and approval. If implemented, it would effect a considerable saving to the company. The company’s field staff appeared to be quite hopeful that their higher authorities would respond favorably in taking he project to its logical conclusion.

As decided by the PTU ,a one day workshop on the subject of Human Values was held  at PTU  Jalandhar on 27 Sep,2011  from 09:30 to 17:30 hrs. The Vice Chancellor Dr Rajneesh Arora presided over the workshop. Directors / Principals of the PTU affiliated colleges attended the event. Wg Cdr Kuldip Singh(Training & Placement Officer) represented our college.

At the outset, the VC gave a presentation on the subject of Human Value introduced in the undergraduate professional courses by numerous universities across the country. He dwelt upon the steps taken in this direction by the university which he termed as the largest professional university in terms of the total enrolled strength of students (including those under Distance education program).  He stressed the need of training at least 3-4 faculty members in each of the colleges to take HV&PE classes and for formation of an effective Value Education cell in the colleges. He emphasized that the university has disallowed teaching of the subject for this semester in the colleges where even a single faculty members is not trained. Such colleges will have to train their teacher’s for the 8 day training scheduled in Nov  - Dec 2011  so that the subject can be taught in the next semester of 1st year.

The VC’s presentation was followed by the workshop proper by the Resource persons Dr R Asthana and Dr Ganesh Bagria. The workshop   was followed by an interaction session and a panal discussion. The participants   brought out the feedback as well as suggestions about teaching of the subject. During panel discussion, the VC clarified that from the next year, the medium of instruction will be the mother tongue of the student (Punjabi or Hindi).The question paper will be trilingual

Instructional Tour to AIR Force Fighter Base, ADAMPUR
ln order to give our, students an insight into the aircraft and equipment operated by a typical Air base, the authorities in Air Force station, Adampur (Jalandhar) were approached by the college. They agreed to allow upto100 students to visit the station on 24 Sep 2011. Accordingly college buses were detailed to convey the students. However, the students enthusiasm was overwhelming and Some of those who could not be accommodated in the college vehicles, hired even a private vehicle to avail themselves of the opportunity .The students were given detailed instructions regarding wearing of a formal dress and observance of discipline and security drills which had to be adhered.

The IAF personnel conducted the students around and the latter evinced keen interest in the twin engine frontline state of the art Mig-29 fighter Plane , the Radar equipment,; Surface to Air Missiles, Shoulder fired anti-aircraft missiles, bomb detection devices and other technical equipment. They were also briefed about Air Traffic Control and taken around the station Museum which besides display IAF memorabilia, highlighted other interesting aspects linked to this formidable fighter base of the world's 4th largest air force. The students felt that the visit has been quite informative as well as motivating and has given them a good technical exposure.

R&D Projects
The  proposals for research projects submitted by the following three students  to the IITT Society were examined by an expert committee from PEC, Chandigarh. The projects have been approved. Each student has been given Rs 5,000 to start the work.

IITTians at IIT Kharagpur Tech Fest

Two of our students – Miss Shruti and Mr. Bhaskar of CSE 3rd year participated in the Tech Fest  Kchitij 09 at IIT Kharagpur from 29th  Jan to 01st  Feb 09. The two members team representing this college were the finalist in the ‘open Software’  event .By virtue of  participation  in the final round. They earned the position of student partner for the coming forth Annual Technical Festival of the IIT Roorkee named COGNIZANCE 2009 scheduled to be held from 20th  to 22nd March 09. The details of the event and other  aspects  which are programmed to be part of the festival are given in the poster displayed  at the notice Board. Inter Semester Football Tournament six-a-side was played amongst the Students of the College .The Students were divided into 8 teams and final match was played on 12th April 08. 2nd year Electrical Engg Team were the winner and IIIrd  year Mech Engg were declared runner up. Prizes were distributed by the Vice Principal Ceremony. Sunny Sethi, 4th year Students won the ‘Player of the Tournament‘Trophy. The Management appreciated the spirit –de crops amongst the students and conveyed their best wishes to all participating students. Events was covered by leading News Papers and gave vide publicity.

Industrial Tour was organized by IITT College of Engineering Pojewal for their visit to “HMT Pinjore” & Advance Study  & Research Centre Ambuja Cement Palaghat –Distt/ Solan ,HP  from 10 to 12 Apr 2008 for the benefit of final year students  of the College . A presentation was given by the management about the infrastructure , technology used and manufacturing process involved. Electronic Corporation of India Ltd (Gurgaon) has visited IITT College of Engineering Pojewal on 19 Mar 08 for placement interview of the students of Electronic & Communication Engineering, Electronic & Instrumentation Engineering, Computer Science Engineering and Information Technology . Team members were welcomed by the Vice Principal and Training & Placement officer of the College. Thereafter the Company gave a presentation of its organization, role and the objective to the participating students, followed by Conduct of Group discussion amongst the participating students and finally conducted individual interviews. The participating students were of 6th & 8th semester  of the College in the placement drive. A total of 22 Nos Students were shortlisted by the Company with a Salary package of Rs. 2.5 to 4 lacs per year depending upon the merit of the student. Keeping in view the response & success rate, many more placement interview are being organized by the College placement cell.

Academic Excellence
Our students topped in the HP Univ. Examination continuously for there years in all streams of engineering . A number of IITT Tians have undergone for higher studies leading to M.Tech/ Ph.D in foreign Univ. in UK/Austalia/ US/Germany.

The NSS  programmes involving students and faculty members was one of peak activities as several camps were organized in the region. It provides sense of togetherness and co-operation when students get involved in social programmes.

A camp was organized involving 30 students to participate in the  water pond cleaning programme in the near by Village Trilokpur. It was appreciated by the people in the region.

The camp was organized in Churdhar  village at the height of 9000 feet to apprise villagers about the flora and fount in the high riches of Churdhar range. It was attented by  50 villagers of the region

Nov17-18-2007   Excursions
Students and faculty members visited the famous Ranuka Lake Hills  and it  was a spotted programmes for outgoing  students  of final semester . Students participated and made the visit a memorable moment. The historic places of the hill regions surrounding Nahan and Ponta Sahib were also visited.
Nov 24-26,2007 Sports Activities:-
Sports is a regular feature in the college and a routine schedule is followed by Hostellers as well as Day scholars to participate in different games. The students of four disciplines participated in competition in Cricket, Badminton and Volleyball held at the college during Nov.07. The winners were given prizes and mementoes   by the Principal

Industrial Tours:
An Industrial Trip was organized for the students to Visit FRI  Dehradoon. It was very interesting to find students of ECE and Computer science to take keen interest in forest bused research institute and its Labs in one of the foremost research organization in the country. Knowledge of allied fields of science & tech plays significant role in upgrading the skills of the younger at the stage of their career development.
Drug addition
Drug Addition is one of the major menace particularly amongst the students in the colleges and the Universities  in the country. To have a  focus on this  big issue of concern today , a camp was organized by the college in the nearby vicinity . Students of local schools and colleges were gathered and a general Campaign on the Drug Addiction and its bad Effects on the Society were Highlighted by delivering lectures by experts in the area. It was one of very successful events of the college attended by its students & outsiders. Printed material was also distributed to bring an impact on the minds of the people.
Health Awareness camp
Health Awareness camp was organized by the      college in near by Village at  Moligan.The Villagers were given a demonstration of Health Keep- fit by the experts invited for the purpose. Around 150 villagers’ particularly female members took active part in this programme. Printed material was distributed to the participants. The College students showed a keen interest in this programme and were involved very actively.
Jan. 11,2007 Engineering Model Competition:
An open competition was held in the college inviting students to take part in the making of Engineering models from the Scratch.  Twelve teams participated in the competition and three teams were adjudged the best in performance. The models  of Hydrogen Rocket,  an Advanced Tracter  , an Hydro Electrical Dam were the best models prepared  and the groups were awarded  Prizes. The models are displayed in the college.  This was one of the best activites organized of the college organized by the students.

Our Placement record is excellent during last years. All students are placed in Multinational Companies, Organisations, Embassies in India & Abroad and in companies like Infosys, Wipro, Tata, Accenture etc.
A number of IITTians have undergone for higher studies leading to M.Tech / Ph.D. in foreign Universities in U.K., Australia, U.S. and Germany
Engineering Model Competetion organised for students - 5 best models were prized. Students participated with full zeal and intent.
Inter College Poster Competetion - Ekta secured Ist position in 2007 and three other students also got prizes.
The entire campuses at Kala Amb and Pojewal including hostels are now having the Wi Fi Internet Connectivity. Students & Faculty can have 24X7 access to this facility.
Digitization of Library for having e-mode Resource Content Consultation is made functional in the Colleges.


There are no short cuts to success. The IITT Colleges have proved that success comes only from hard work and the endeavour to excel is what seperates winners from laggards.
